Additional drivers available to cover 7 routes

We were notified by our transportation vendor on Sept. 6 that 7 additional drivers are available to cover some of our canceled routes. A direct communication has been sent to those families to let them know busing will be provided beginning tomorrow morning for the 2 APPLE, 25 FLAMINGO, 68 GLASSES, 31 HAMMER, 58 SNOWFLAKE and 68 TURTLE, 72 ZEBRA bus routes.

Unfortunately, we still have a number of routes uncovered at this time, including 5 BEAR; 14 CAP;

27 GIRAFFE; 41 MOOSE; 43 MOUSE (morning route available. No afternoon route); 46 PENCIL; 54 SCISSORS; 55 SEAL; 59 SPIDER; 70 WATCH; 73 UMBRELLA; 75 LION; 78 GUITAR; 79 PIANO. Families will need to find alternative transportation to and from school at this time.

The Moose bus will not be available to shuttle students between the middle schools and the high school at the end of the day for activities. Students involved in activities will need to find alternative transportation to the high school.

Schools to open early for drop-off for impacted families

To help families who are without busing, we will be opening our schools earlier for student drop-off. All district buildings will be open at the following times and supervision will be provided to students impacted by canceled bus routes:

  • High School: 6:15 a.m.
  • Middle Schools: 7 a.m.
  • Elementary Schools: 7:45 a.m.

Schools have also sent out information to all families regarding special drop-off and pick-up schedules designed to help ease congestion. We know our schools will be very busy places and we ask that you do your best to drop off and pick up students during your allotted time, and to be patient as we know lines will be long. Please use extra care and caution in our parking lots to ensure everyone stays safe. Families are asked to pick up students as soon as possible after school. If you are unable to pick up your child by the end of the allotted pick-up time, please communicate with your school’s main office or principal.

School board to hold emergency meeting

The school board will be holding an emergency meeting at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 7 to discuss strategies to address the transportation challenges. The meeting will be broadcast live on YouTube and more information will be shared with families following the meeting.
