Drivers, students come together to make buses peaceful
Lily Lake Elementary students, staff and bus drivers participated in Peaceful Bus activities designed to build positive relationships and promote safe bus behavior.
Minnesota Center bus drivers were invited to come into school where they met with all of the kids that ride their bus. Together, the students and drivers took part in team-building exercises, talked about bullying and what behavior is and is not acceptable, and got to know one another. They also practiced a bus evacuation. Even students who don't regularly ride the bus were included in activities structured around safe school arrival, departure and hallway behaviors.
The Peaceful School Bus Program is a whole-school program that's designed to decrease inappropriate behavior on buses while creating a climate of respect and cooperation.
